Michael W. Pascrell

Michael W. Pascrell age 21 of Wayne passed in a tragic accident on Friday, March 29, 2013.

Michael was born in Paterson and was a lifelong resident of Wayne. He graduated from Wayne Valley High School with the Class of 2010 having been a member of the football and track teams for all four years. He was currently a Junior at Rider University’s Lawrenceville Campus.

Mike will be remembered as a person who always put other’s before himself. He was a people pleaser who had a light hearted sense of humor and was quick with a joke. He had a comforting way in which he could engage in conversation with his peers just as easily as someone many years his senior. His twenty-one summers, at Long Beach Island with his family, have left them many fond memories of Mike crabbing, sitting on the beach all day, and cruising in the boat. He was a great son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend and will be greatly missed.

He was the loving son of Frank J. Pascrell of Wayne and the late Eileen (Horn) Pascrell (2007); loving brother of Theresa Eileen Pascrell of Wayne; cherished grandson of Eileen “Nana” Pascrell of Wayne and the late Frank Pascrell (1985), and Theresa “Granny” Horn of Manahawkin and the late William L. Horn (2000); dear nephew, cousin, and friend.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 3 – 8 PM at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.

A 10 AM Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Our Lady of the Valley RC Church, 630 Valley Road, Wayne.

Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wayne Rotary Foundation, PO Box 2022, Wayne, NJ 07470-2022 would be appreciated.

My family wants you to know all of you are in our prayers. Mike was a favorite to us, as my children were in school with him and my husband and I were heavily involved with the Chorus at Wayne Valley. I was lucky enough to be Mikes chaperone on a couple of Chorus trips and a substitute teacher at that time. He was one of a kind. He always had a smile or a kind word. The way I will always remember Mike was that big grin. He missed his mom and would talk about her. He loved his family and spoke about how lucky he was to have them. I know he looked up to his big sister. He thought the world of her. Let me just say this. I knew Mike in my way and you know him so much more. I would just like to say it was my privilege to know him and to have spent time with your son and brother. Thank you for that. He will be sorely missed. Ellen

Pascrell Family- I know my words can not fill the void you must be feeling but your son truly changed the lives of so many people. Having him in my life from the beginning of middle school until now has been a blessing in itself. Im so blessed that I shared my 8th grade dance with him and being able to graduate along side him is one of the greatest treasures I'll keep forever. I hold him so near to my heart and I will be praying for your family through this tough time. I loved your son immensely and I know he's home where he is supposed to be because he was an angel on earth. My condolenses to you all. Emilia

I share your deep sadness over the loss of Mike. I had the pleasure of teaching Mike--and now Theresa--and will always remember his enthusiastic entry and departure from class: "How's it going Mrs. Smith?", "Have a great day Mrs. Smith." He was sweet, respectful and kind; I often marvel over what a wonderful job Mr. and Mrs. Pascrell did with their children. He took a deep and earnest interest, writing his senior research paper on the challenging topic of Paradise Lost. I will always remember him fondly. Theresa, you and your family are in my prayers.

Catherine Smith

Pascrell Family: Mike was loved by so many people because he was such an amazing person. He had such a kind heart and soul. My first memory of him was when I first moved to Wayne in 3rd grade. We were sitting in school at Randall Carter and he was the first person who ever said hello to me. He was my first friend and we remained friends ever since that day. He will always be here with us because the spirt that he had touched so many people, he will forever and always be a part of not only myself, but everyone else as well. He always had an infectious smile on his face that you couldn't help to love. He was just that amazing and I loved him more than words can describe. I am so sorry for your loss. We are deeply saddened to hear about your loss. Words cannot express how truly sorry we are. Our family is heartbroken over the loss of Michael. He was a pleasure to be with. As a part of the bridal party, he helped to make Justin and Erin’s wedding day extra special! He was such a respectful boy and always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. It's the little things, the small, everyday occurrences that you'll remember: the laughs, the stories, and the smiles. And even though it seems like you can never recover from your loss, it is these very memories that will help push the pain away and bring back the smiles. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Michael was the truest of friends. His wit and vibrant spirit made myself and countless Wayne Valley students laugh and adore him. He was the type of person you admired infinitely for his optimism and strength, even in the toughest moments of his life. Mike touched my life and the lives of so many others. He will be greatly missed. To the Pascrell family: My prayers are with you at this time and always; I wish you peace. God Bless.

Denise K. Potter

Despite being "gone," he will never really be gone. He never failed to light up a room with his contageous laughter and smile. There will forever be a void in so many people's lives; he is special and amazing in so many ways we can only strive to be. Of course we will all be upset about his early departure from this world, but we can only smile becuase we are so very lucky to have known you for this short time.

Kim Kruse

It takes a special person to not only lead a life of personal happiness but to also bring happiness to others and that's what Mike did. When i think back to spring track, my fondest memories are with you man. Great doesn't even come close in describing the type of person Mike was. Life has weird ways of working itself out, but I know you are looking down on us now from a better place. Your family are in my prayers, god bless. Kenny Salvatore and family

Kenny Salvatore

Pascrell family I would like to say mike was a special individual. I'm the 4 years I played football with him I only know one time where he was ever upset and without a smile. Mike was always joking and being friendly and I do not know anyone that couldn't get along with him. One moment that stands out in my mind was our senior year during football when we played Paramus. Mike saved the game with under 1 minute left in the game and we won 23-22 because of him. He was a great kid. I'm very sorry for your loss. Colin Bush

We always had each others back and whenever we needed help in we were there for each other. He is a great friend, team mate, brother, and son. My thoughts and prayers are with the Pascrell family, all his loved ones, and Mike.

Mr. Pascrell, Nana, Theresa and family- words cannot express my sympathy for your loss. Mike was a special young man who never missed a moment to make someone else feel special. Even when he had his own things to take care of he always put someone else before himself. He has an infectious smile that will forever be engraved in my heart. Mike was truly the older brother I never had. He was always there to have a solid conversation with and always had a way to make anyone laugh and feel comfortable around him. I feel incredibly blessed to have had him in my life and now watching over me as an angel. To my beautiful Theresa- please always know that nothing made Mike happier than seeing you happy and that you made him the happiest older brother. Our prayers are with you. Rest in the sweetest peace Mike, God bless.

Mike was one of friendliest and funniest guys that I ever had the pleasure to befriend at Wayne Valley. I'm at work and noticed that we were in need of forks. There was at day at Rider where Mike was super anxious about a package he just received (Rider sends email notifications when packages are sent to students). He goes to class and opens his present. What did Nana get her grandson while he's in college? A pack of 48 forks. Needless to say, he left the pack of forks in class. The very next day, we were in need of forks for our ramen and had to use chopsticks instead. I love you, Mike.
