Adam John Shakoor passed away at the far too young age of 40, in his family home in Totowa on Monday, September 11, surrounded by the love of his family, cherished friends, and his devoted girlfriend.

Adam was born and raised by his loving parents, Mary Ellen and Jack Shakoor in Wayne, New Jersey. He was a graduate of Wayne Hills High School and Lynn University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications.

His passion and ability to give nothing short of one hundred and ten percent in everything he did was evident through his work at Jack’s Super Foodtown in Caldwell, of which he had been an essential part since 2006, eventually rising to the role of the store's general manager. He was beloved by customers and coworkers alike who held him in high regard for his warm greetings, helpful nature, and his handsome, infectious smile that brightened everyone's day.

Nothing was more important to Adam than family. He was an exceptional son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, brother-in-law, and grandson. With his sisters, Jill and Holly, he shared countless joyful moments, and they created a beloved tradition known as "Siblings Unite,” where they would sip wine from a can while listening to music from an iphone, talk smack and watch Arrested Development in locations spanning the globe - from New Jersey to Los Angeles to Cabo del Sur.

Friendship was of paramount importance to Adam, and he and his beloved girlfriend, Rosemarie, could often be found raising an Orange Jameson to a good time at a local bar, concert or the track. From his long-time childhood friends to college buddies, coworkers, and the various companions he made throughout his journey, Adam's dedication to his friends was unwavering. Adam was known for always being down for a good time, and was someone you could undeniably count on, there for you whenever needed.

An avid fan of the NY Knicks and a WWE wrestlemaniac, Adam was also a lover of all things Marvel and DC, and an OG Nintendo gamer - he put the FAN in “FANdom.” Adam always made sure to show up for the things he loved. If he wasn’t training at the gym, running marathons or hanging out at a Yappy Hour with his beloved shelties, Zelda and Carmelo, Adam could be found on most weekends attending a concert, embracing his love for live music and supporting his favorite bands.

In this difficult time, Adam is survived by his mother, Mary Ellen Shakoor, father, Jack  Shakoor, two loving sisters, Holly and Jill, brothers-in-law, Ruben and Stephen, his nieces Goldie and Jack, cousins Jeffrey and Aimee, his beloved girlfriend, Rosemarie, her two precious daughters, Haley and Bella, and lastly, his ride or die Sheltie, Zelda.

In Adam's honor, let us remember to embrace life with the same passion, dedication, and love that he so brilliantly exemplified. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
