Adrienne L. McManus (nee Climes) age 82 of Wayne died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains. She passed away quietly and peacefully while receiving the loving care of her family who were at her bedside.
She was born in Newark and had lived in Elizabeth and Belleville before moving to Wayne forty-eight years ago.
Adrienne received her formal education at Elizabeth High School graduating with the Class of 1941. At that time in history she was in the all girls high school.
She was a parishioner of the Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church in Wayne.
She was a member of the Packanack Lake Golf Club and Bowling League. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her yard.
Adrienne leaves her family with many fond memories of a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a dedicated homemaker with many talents in the kitchen. She delighted in providing gracious hospitality to family and friends. Her cooking was superb with roast beef, gravy and mashed potatoes as a family favorite.
Mom would make a big fuss over holidays, birthdays and anniversaries to the delight of her family. Perhaps the finest of life’s experiences for her was the arrival of grandchildren whom she adored with all of her heart.
Bernard and Adrienne had a “great mutual admiration – best friend marriage” together for fifty years until Bernard’s passing in April of 1999.
Surviving are two sons John Bernard McManus and his wife Cathy of Wayne and Greg McManus and his wife Marietta of New City, New York; two daughters Susan Dowiak and her husband Daniel of Moorestown and Jane LaForge and her husband John of Wayne; one sister in law Kate Climes; Eleven Grandchildren Cara Aranda and her husband Carlo, Jacqueline Samphogna and her husband Joe, Danielle and Cassie McManus, Jennifer Williams and her husband James, Jason, Joshua and Jacob Dowiak, Ryan, Christopher and Annie LaForge; two great grandchildren James Williams and Ella Aranda.
Her brothers Warren and Ronald Climes and Warren’s wife Sylvia, sister in law predeceased her.
Those considering an expression of sympathy in Adrienne’s memory are asked to consider the American Diabetes Association, 19 Schoolhouse Rd., Somerset, NJ 08873
