Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne from 2-4, 7-9 PM.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Friday, September 28, 2007 at the Holland Christian Home Chapel, 151 Graham Avenue, North Haledon with visitation from 9-10AM preceding the service.
She will be laid to rest with her husband George Jaasma at the Fair Lawn Cemetery in Fair Lawn.
Alice Jaasma (nee Rozendal) age 97 of the Holland Christian Home in North Haledon died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Holland Christian Home, North Haledon.
She was born in Prospect Park where she spent her formative years, later living in Little Falls for many years before moving to her present residence at the Holland Christian Home in North Haledon sixteen years ago.
Alice received her formal education at Central High School in Paterson graduating with the Class of 1928.
She was a dedicated member of the Second Reformed Church in Little Falls. Perhaps her family’s fondest memories of her center around her unwavering Christian Faith.
Alice was an active member of the Mission Circle and Women’s Guild for Christian Service at the Second Reformed Church and also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Holland Christian Home, North Haledon.
She leaves her family with many fond memories of a loving, caring and concerned wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family and all of their well being was an important part of her life’s dedication She loved her family with all of her heart.
Alice and George Jaasma had fifty-seven years of “devoted and loving” marriage together until George’s passing in 1990.
Surviving are one daughter Marilyn Rijkse and her husband Hendrik of Wayne; one son Edward Jaasma and his wife Dorothy of Colts Neck. Two granddaughters Donna Veenstra and her husband Jerry of North Haledon, Lisa Dykstra and her husband Donald of North Haledon; two grandsons Kyle Jaasma and his wife Amber of Mountain Home, Idaho, Keith Jaasma and his wife Amy of Houston, Texas; ten great grandchildren Andrew, Allison and Adam Dykstra, Alyssa, Kelsey, Brianne and Jenna Veenstra, Ella, Juliana and Henry Jaasma; one niece Nancy Rozendal and Gordon Lisker of Providence, RI; nephews Wilbur Jaasma and his wife Agnes of Dothan, AL and Dennis and his wife Dianne Jaasma of Blacksburg, VA.
