Angelina "Aunt Jean" J. Del Forno, age 89, of Wayne. passed Tuesday. August 15, 2023.
Jean was born in Jersey City and raised in Union City where she attended Emerson High School. She lived in Ridgefield at 554 Oak Street and in 1986 moved to Wayne. For many years she snow-birded in Delray Beach, FL.
Just out of high school Jean worked at the DuroTest Light Bulb Company on Kennedy Boulevard in Union City and for several years worked as a Nursery School Teacher at Saint James Church in Ridgefield. She always looked back fondly of her years working with the children at the nursery school.
Jean will be remembered for being generous to a fault, an avid shopper (her absolute favorite thing to do) and was simply a kind, loving soul. She loved to cook and even taught a class on Italian Cooking called Pasta Pasta & More" in Palisades Park. She was lovingly known as “Aunt Jean" to many as she just had a loving, kind and caring way about her. She loved to travel with her three cousins: Millie, Ada and Vicky and nicknamed themselves... “The Golden Girls."
Jean met her future husband Joe as he worked across the street from her parents Deli/Luncheonette in Union City. He would often get his lunch there and they fell in love. Jean and Joe married on June 13, 1953, at St Anthony's of Padua Church in Union City and honeymooned in Miami. Florida. Jean and Joe had a loving and devoted marriage that was blessed with four children: Joseph, Ella, Louis, and Michael. They experienced a tragedy when their son Joseph was killed in a traffic accident in 1975. Jean and Joe were married for thirty-one years and considered their relationship a partnership with Joe making Jean feel loved and important all the time before his passing in 1984.
Jean was the loving wife of the late Joseph A. Del Forno (d.1984); loving mother of Ella Del Forno of Chester, Louis Del Forno and his wife Gina of Wayne, and Michael Del Forno and his wife Hijong of Charlestown, RI, and the late Joseph V. Del Forno (d.1975); she was the loved sister of Raymond Reo and his wife Rosalie of North Bergen and Gloria Pino and her husband of Lake Worth, FL. and the late Arlene Fasani and her late husband Leon; she was the cherished grandmother of six grandchildren: Valentina, Joseph, Ava, Louis, Enzo, and Gianni.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
