A Memorial Mass is planned for 10 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church, Wayne.
Ann Davis (nee Tateo), age 95 of Paterson and Pompton Lakes, died on Thursday, August 11, 2011.
Born in Paterson, Ann lived on 5th Avenue for the first eighty years of her life. She moved to the senior citizens home in Pompton Lakes fifteen years ago.
As a young girl, she entered the work force as a seamstress, making coats a one of the many Paterson garment factories.
For many years, she had refused the advances of a young man named William E. Davis. They knew each other from the neighborhood and William was almost fifteen years younger than her. Well, eventually William wore her down and the two of them were married, enjoying a lovely marriage together. Sadly, William died suddenly after just twelve years of marriage, in 1967, and Ann has mourned his loss ever since. She has held his memory close to her heart and even carried his smoking pipe around with her every day since his passing.
Ann was a sweetheart of a lady and was always happy. She particularly enjoyed spending time with family, Christmas and all the holidays. She was a “happy-go-lucky” lady all of her years. Her faith provided a sturdy foundation and she attended Blessed Sacrament RC Church in the Riverside section of Paterson for all of the eighty years she lived there. She carried her rosary with her everywhere she went.
She is survived by one sister; Edith Hollerback of Wayne, her nephew; Anthony Hollerback and his wife JoAnn and the Charyak family, and one niece; Debbie LaManna of Haledon, and great nieces and nephews.
Those planning an expression of sympathy in Ann’s name are asked to consider Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church, 588 Ratzer Road, Wayne, NJ 07470.
