Family and friends are invited to the American Legion Post No. 450 located at 11 Oak Ave., Pequannock, on Friday 3/24/23 from 6 to 10pm to celebrate Annie’s life with a “BANG!,” one of her favorite expressions.
Anne (Annie) T. Clancy, born 9/23/1961, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023. Annie was born in Passaic, grew up in Wayne, on Chestnut Drive in Packanack Lake, had lived in Pequannock, Florida, and Lincoln Park; which was her final destination before Eternity.
Annie is predeceased by her brother John (1993), her mother, Marie T.(1998), her brother Timmy (2005) and her father John (Jack) Clancy (2010). She is survived by her brother, Tom (Clance) Clancy, JoAnne Clancy, niece Holly Clancy, nephews Bobby, Timmy and Jack Clancy, her Uncle Bill and Aunt Audrey Clancy of Kearney.
Annie’s long time companion for 20 years, Paul Alexander, was the Love of her Life. Paul supported Annie through the loss of her brother, mother and father, all whom she was very close to, and through her sickness as well. They shared many good times together and traveled often. Their 4 legged baby, Fuzzi, will miss her very much. Paul lit up Annie’s life; though Annie was a bright light herself. To know her was to love her, with her infectious laugh and love for life; nothing could keep Annie down. When Annie was 10, in 4th grade, she was hit by a car while riding her bike and broke several major bones in her body, lost her spleen and a lung. She was in a coma for 4 months. Annie overcame her injuries and by middle school became a very enthusiastic cheerleader for Packanack Lake Football league; her brother Tommy said she was VERY good at it. Annie continued to cheer her brothers on when they played for the Bone Crushers and Wayne A’s adult leagues. Family was very important to Annie. When Annie passed she had her ceramic cheerleader trophy displayed in her living room from that era. Annie was good at cheering people on all through life and acquired many friends. She loved to go to concerts and did so often with her friend, Jude, whose company she loved and whom Annie really appreciated the support of, as well as friend Libby, during the last seasons of her life. Annie's high school friend, Dave, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, called her everyday for the last several years. She truly loved his daily calls and frequent visits to NJ to see her. Her big claim to fame was that she and Bruce Springsteen shared the same birthday, however, “The Boss” had a few years on her. Annie loved going to the beach, especially Spring Lake where her grandmother resided and where she spent many fun summers with her brothers until their late teens. She frequented the Jersey shore and St. Pete Beach, Fl., where her family had a condo. Annie, her mom, and grandmother MiMi would often visit St. Pete’s together with her father, Jack, who had a special love for Annie, and a sense of humor unmatched which Annie inherited.
Annie was a friend of the American Legion Post No. 450, and for many years was the lead conductor of the Memorial Day parade. As much as she loved to laugh, when it came to the parade, she was no joke and took her responsibility seriously. When the parade was over, Annie was the life of the party. She loved to sing and dance; her nicknames included Hurricane and Teflon Annie. She was one of a kind and will truly be missed!
Annie's favorite charity was St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. If desired, a donation can be made in her honor.
