Anthony “Tony” J. Corvino, age 69 of Wayne, died at home on Monday, August 27, 2007 while receiving the loving care of his wife and family.
He was born in Danbury, CT. and lived in Wayne for 36 years. He received his formal education at Danbury High School, Danbury, CT, graduating with the class of 1956. He attended Becker Junior College, Worcester, MA, and then continued his education at Boston University, graduating with the class of 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations and Personnel Management.
He worked for the Continental Grain Company of New York, in their World Grain Division, for 28 years before retiring in 1998. Before that he worked for Beech Nut Inc., as a Manager of Industrial Relations.
Tony belonged to many organizations including the Creative Counseling Center of Wayne, he was a past-president of the Packanack Community Golf Club, member of the Upper Montclair Country Club, member of the Packanack Lake Community Association and Country Club, and most enjoyable were his days with the “Purple Gang” softball team. He was also involved with the Packanack Lake Athletic Association as a coach for baseball, football, and basketball. Anyone who was lucky enough to know Tony, either through his participation in these organizations, as a coach, or just as a friend, knows that he was always willing to go out of his way to help anyone he could, and in any way that he could. He loved the Packanack Lake community and the many friends that he made there during the past 36 years.
He particularly enjoyed golfing and their group ski trips, including family, friends, and neighbors, to Vermont, Upstate New York, and Pennsylvania. Family trips to Saw Creek Estates in Pennsylvania were also a favorite time for Tony.
He is survived by his wife Judith; two sons, Brian and Craig; one niece JoAnn Dixon and one nephew Patrick Dixon, both of Danbury, CT. He was predeceased by his parents; Pasquale (1998) and Concetta (2003), and one sister; Lena Dixon (1985).
Those planning an expression of sympathy in Tony’s name are asked to consider the American Cancer Society, 20 Mercer St., Hackensack, NJ 07601
