Funeral services will be held Monday 9:30 AM at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday, July 8, 2007 from 2-6 PM.
Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa.
Carmela Dina Basile (nee Vitale) age 92 of Wayne died Thursday, July 05, 2007 at home with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Paterson and lived her early years there later living in Totowa, Passaic and Butler before moving to Wayne in 2002.
Carmela was formerly a member for a number of years of the Italian American Club of Totowa.
She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother who was dedicated to cooking and cleaning her impeccable home. Sunday dinners where always a special time for family to get together. When her husband came home from his day at work, his dinner was always ready and waiting, and there was no talking at the table.
Michael and Carmela had a “loving marriage” for forty-five years until his passing in 1983. Michael was a prominent Patersonian who is scheduled to be inducted into the Paterson Hall of Fame on November 1, 2007 for his work with both local baseball and basketball teams. He coached Little League up to semi-professional baseball also basketball with the Jordan Athletic Club of Paterson. He also coached American Legion Post 227 baseball in Totowa.
Beloved mother of Victor M. Basile and his wife Mary Alice of West Caldwell, Michael R. Basile Jr. and his wife Colleen of Wayne; cherished grandmother of Stacey Dudley, Kim, Ryan, Michele and Michael Basile and much loved great-grandmother of Tre, Christopher, Thomas James (TJ), Jensen and Ashton. She was predeceased by four sisters Antoinette, Tilly, Jenny, Theresa and one brother Sam.
