Carmine Joseph Liguori, 83, of Haskell, NJ, formerly of Pompton Lakes, NJ, and Naples, FL, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, and in the presence of his loving family, on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

Carmine was born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey. He was born in the family's home on Martin Street and grew up on 27th Street, where he lived for nearly forty years. Carmine graduated from Eastside High School, then proudly served in the National Guard. He worked for many years at a pharmacy in Paterson, before becoming a Police Officer for the City of Paterson, while at the same time earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at William Paterson University. Carmine eventually transferred over to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office in Paterson. Upon his retirement, Carmine served a combined 25 years in law enforcement.

Carmine is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Roseanne (D’Ambrosio) Liguori of Haskell, his daughter Joanne Presta and her husband Larry of Pompton Lakes, and his son, Alfonso “Al” Liguori and his wife Jeanette of Pompton Lakes. He was “Pop-Pop” to his seven grandchildren, Marc, Lauren and Ryan Presta, and Joseph, Anna, John, and Amy Liguori. Carmine was predeceased by his parents Alfonso Liguori and Nicoletta “Lena” Liguori (nee Violante) and his brother Louis Liguori.

Carmine loved to play golf and achieved two holes-in-one during his playing days, making him extremely skilled or extremely lucky. He also enjoyed annual fresh-water fishing trips to Canada with friends and was a New York Jets season ticket holder for over thirty years. Carmine also loved to sing and dance, especially to the smooth sounds of Frank Sinatra and other music from the 1950’s. He was always the life of the party, and he made friends with everyone he met.

Carmine’s greatest love was for his family. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and they loved their “Pop-Pop” just as much. Nothing made Carmine more proud and thankful than when the whole family was gathered. He and Roseanne and their children and grandkids had the thrill of taking trips together, including a vacation to Disney World, a cruise to the Bahamas for Carmine and Roseanne’s 50th wedding anniversary, and a vacation down the Jersey shore at Ortley Beach.

Carmine lived his life according to the principles guided by his Christian faith. He was a faithful parishioner at St. Brendan’s Church in Clifton, St. Mary’s Church in Pompton Lakes, and Our Lady of Consolation Church in Wayne. He served for countless years helping to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate and disadvantaged through his active involvement as a member and former president of the Fidelians Foundation in North Haledon.

Whether you knew him as Carmine, Joe, Sonny, Hon, Dad, Uncle Joe, or Pop-Pop, he was a kind, generous, honorable, fun and loving gentleman. With a glass of red wine or a martini in his hand, he would always offer a Salute’ to the friends and family who surrounded him. We now offer a Salute’ to him, thanking him for the love, kindness, support, and priceless memories he has given to us all. SALUTE’!!! See you on the rebound…

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy in Carmine’s name are asked to consider:
