Catherine Eleanor Sadowski, “Cathy” to all that knew her, died on Friday October 23, 2009 at just 37 years old. She was tragically struck by a car while crossing the street in her home town of Lexington, South Carolina.

Cathy was born in Camden, NJ and moved to Wayne with her family in 1980.  She graduated from Wayne Hills High School with the class of 1992.  After graduation, she volunteered at a nursing home in Lincoln Park where her big heart and loving nature brought her close to all the residents.  In 1995 she moved to Lexington, South Carolina with her parents.  She quickly made friends there too and soon found herself right at home.  She was particularly fond of animals and would never pass an opportunity to rescue a stray pet, but cats were clearly her favorite.  She was always bringing home something new that needed her care.

Her family recalls summer vacations to Cape Hatteras where Cathy would quickly become friends with the other vacationing families around them on the beach.  She absolutely loved those vacations and wasted no time introducing herself to others, getting to know people from all over.  She will be greatly missed by all those friends she has made over the years.

Cathy is survived by her father; Albert J. Sadowski, Sr. of West Columbia, South Carolina, one sister; Judith F. McLean and her husband Scott of Wayne, three brothers; Kenneth C. Sadowski and his wife Christine of Roxbury, New Jersey, Al Sadowski and his wife Jennifer of Wayne, and Brian A. Sadowski of Wayne, as well as seven nieces and nephews.  Cathy was predeceased by her mother Annetta Marie Sadowski (nee Snyder) in 1999.

Those planning an expression of sympathy in Cathy’s name are asked to consider the Foundation for the Handicapped, 30 Woodridge Terrace, Wayne, NJ  07470.
