Craig Sienkiewicz, age 63 of Pompton Plains, NJ passed unexpectedly at home on Saturday, December 25th, 2021.
Born in Passaic, NJ, Craig’s family moved to Wayne in 1969.
Known as “Float” by all who loved him, he graduated from Wayne Valley High School in 1976. Growing up a bit of a prankster, Craig had many friends. He enjoyed wrestling, his souped up ‘Cuda, Groucho Marx, and nights at the Bay with his buddies. He could usually be found in the garage tinkering around, either putting something together or taking it apart, typically alongside his best friend, Bert.
He began his career employed by Wayne Township as a road inspector. Following that, he worked for one of his lifelong friends at Dow Asphalt as a foreman for over 35 years.
Craig was a devoted son, uncle, and an amazing brother to his three sisters, always protecting his family. No one was allowed to mess with his sisters! He was always eager to lend a helping hand to a neighbor, a friend, a family member, or anyone in need.
Craig settled in Pompton Plains, NJ, in 2003. He always took such pride in maintaining his property and, to no one’s surprise but his own, he won the ‘Best Landscaping” award by his community. He also was an avid gardener and shared his produce freely with his neighbors, family and friends. He loved grilling and fireworks, was a beer and football guy, and always kept plenty of ice cream around for his nieces and nephews.
Above all, Craig’s most cherished times were times spent with his Godchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the best of the best uncle who loved and spoiled them without end, and they fully loved and adored him right back.
Craig was predeceased by his father, Stanley D. Sienkiewicz, (1996) and his mother, Maralda Sienkiewicz (2008). He is survived by his sister Sandra Santangelo and his brother-in-law Charles Santangelo; sister Valerie Stansill and his brother-in-law Dean Stansill, sister Pamela Soroka and his brother-in-law Michael V. Soroka, his Godchildren, nieces and nephews; Gregory Santangelo and his wife Stephanie, Alyssa Santangelo, Amanda Stansill, Michael D. Soroka, Alexa Soroka, and great-nephew and great-niece; Dominic and Liliana Santangelo.
Craig gave so much love and was loved by so many. He was a real character with a quick wit, but always in a loving way. He would give you the shirt off of his back, and then some! I’m not sure if anyone who loved and knew him could ever forget his laugh, his smile, or his very kind soul. He will be dearly missed by all and is forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers donations in Craig's memory are asked to consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the American Lung Association.
