Daniela N. Limandri, age 66 of Wayne, died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 10, 2014. She courageously battled ovarian cancer for nearly two years and had continued working until just a few weeks ago.

Daniela had been a hairstylist and beautician during her entire professional career. She absolutely loved her work and had been with “Faces Plus Salon” on Berdan Avenue in Wayne for nearly twenty years. Prior to that, she had her own salon in Wyckoff called “Hair Design Unlimited” for ten years.

Daniela was born in Livorno, Italy and came to the United States when she was just five years old. With the assistance of the Red Cross, her father had come here first to get established and then sent for his wife and daughter to join him. They started a new life in the Hillcrest section of Paterson and Daniela graduated from Central High School with the class of 1964. During high school, she had taken a class for hairstyling and enjoyed it so much that she went on to the Capri Institute in Paterson where she learned to be a beautician. Styling hair was her specialty and she has many clients throughout the area who know just how much she loved her career. When it came to her own beauty, she never left the house without looking terrific! She was naturally beautiful to start, and her hair, nails and makeup were always flawless. She worked out a lot at the gym too, always staying fit. Just about a year ago she signed up for a fitness ‘boot camp’, which really tested her strength and endurance. Keeping herself in shape was a priority and even at sixty six years old, she looked great in a bikini. Looking good in a bikini was important considering that the beach in Seaside Heights was one of her favorite places to visit. She and Bob spent a lot of time down there either on the beach or at Joey’s Surf Club, right on the boardwalk.

Daniela and Bob met at Gasper’s Restaurant which was a very popular meeting place during the 1980’s. On their first official date, Bob took Daniela to a club in Clifton where they danced and enjoyed each other’s company. On the way home, Bob fell asleep and crashed the car, giving Daniela a broken nose! No one could have guessed that even after a first date experience like that one, they would fall in love as they did. They were married on July 14, 1985 at The Tides in North Haledon and honeymooned on St. Maarten. Over the years, they traveled to Italy, the Caribbean islands, and especially loved the Jersey Shore. When it came to cooking, Daniela’s favorite thing to make was a reservation someplace! She was a ‘restaurant queen’ and they ate out quite a bit. Her favorite restaurants include Travato’s, Portobello and Café Amore. They have enjoyed twenty eight years together in a very loving marriage and Bob will surely miss her dearly.

Daniela is survived by her loving husband Robert of Wayne, by her son William “Billy” Thomas and his wife Deborah of Pompton Lakes, her devoted mother; Minnie Amato of Wayne, her son; Marc Limandri of Florida, two grandchildren; Alexandria Hassett of Pompton Lakes and Brandon Limandri of Mahwah, her sister-in-law; Sally Curtin and her husband Thomas of Franklin Lakes, brother-in-law Vincent Limandri and his wife Wendy of Wayne, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Angelo in 1992.
