A Funeral Mass celebrating Richard’s life will be held on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Pompton Lakes, NJ.
Following the Mass, Richard will be laid to rest at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. A repast and celebration of life will follow the burial.
Dr. Richard Stephen Morski
Dr. Richard Stephen Morski, 73, passed away unexpectedly on August 11th, 2026, while enjoying a vacation with his children and grandchildren.
Born on September 8, 1952, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Zbigniew ("Stephen") Morski and Karolina Morski, Rich was raised with a deep appreciation for family, faith, helping others, and learning. He received a Catholic school primary and secondary education, graduating Salutatorian from Don Bosco Preparatory High School in 1970 and Seton Hall University in 1974 before pursuing his medical education at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland.
Together with his former wife, Renata Morski, Richard raised his two children Nina and Christopher in Wyckoff, New Jersey, where he was an active member of the Wyckoff Board of Health.
Rich dedicated forty years of his life to the practice of medicine, serving as a family physician in Oakland, New Jersey. Throughout his career, he cared for generations of patients and earned the trust and admiration of countless families.
To Rich, medicine was not about diagnosing illnesses or prescribing treatments. He took the time to know his patients, listen to their stories, and understand their lives. Many who came to him for medical care found not only an exceptional physician but also a trusted confidant and friend. His attentiveness and genuine concern for others left a lasting impact on the community he served.
Rich rarely passed up an opportunity to learn something new. He was the person who would stop to read every historical marker, pick up every informational pamphlet at a rest stop, be a resource to many crossword puzzles and episodes of Jeopardy and eagerly share a newly discovered fact with family and friends. He possessed a remarkable memory and an appreciation for knowledge that never faded.
His interests and hobbies evolved throughout the years. He loved sports, a passion first cultivated by his father and his Uncle Bogie and he carried it with him throughout his life. At different points in time, he enjoyed golf, cooking, cycling, tennis, photography, and Lionel trains. Whatever the hobby, Rich appreciated the opportunity to learn something new and immerse himself in the details.
Rich was also a proud first generation Polish American. His heritage remained an important part of his identity throughout his life. He took special notice whenever he encountered a Polish name, a Polish-owned business, or a Polish athlete succeeding on the world stage. These moments brought him genuine pride and reflected his enduring connection to his heritage, his family and the country where he studied.
Yet what people will remember most is his kind heart. Rich possessed a rare gift for making people feel seen and valued. Whether speaking with a longtime patient at the grocery store, a former colleague, a childhood classmate, a neighbor, or someone he had just met, he approached every interaction with kindness and respect. He was the person who would notice a name tag and use that person's name throughout an interaction. In a world that often moves too quickly, Richard made people feel that they mattered.
Above all else, Rich's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted father to Nina and Christopher and a loving grandfather to David, Diana, and Evan, whose accomplishments, personalities, and everyday moments brought him immeasurable happiness. He loved holiday dinners, spending time around the table reminiscing on summers spent in the Catskills with his sister and cousins, playing outside with his childhood friends, playing tennis with his father or recounting classic movies. Time spent with his family, children and grandchildren was what he treasured most, and the memories they shared will remain a lasting source of comfort and love.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Zbigniew ("Stephen") Morski and Karolina Morski. He is survived by his son, Christopher Morski of Washington, DC, his daughter Nina Morski Martinez of Hopewell, NJ and his son in law Luis A. Martinez, his beloved grandchildren, David, Diana, and Evan Martinez; his loving sister, Christine Marzullo of Wayne, NJ; his brother-in-law, Gino Marzullo; his nephew and godson, Nicholas Marzullo; his treasured first cousins, many extended family members, friends, colleagues, and grateful patients whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
The Morski and Martinez families extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many patients, friends, colleagues, and neighbors who have shared how their lives were enriched by Richard's care and friendship. The stories and memories of so many are a testament to the extraordinary life he lived. He will be deeply missed by us all.
