Edward L. Esso, age 92, of Wayne died peacefully on April 8, 2017.

Beloved husband of 54 years to Gloria Esso (nee Hawaweeny).

He attended high school then transferred to vocational school in Paterson. At age 18 he enlisted in the Navy and served from 1942-1945. During WWII he served aboard the US Lovering DE 39 in the Pacific. He looked forward to the yearly Navy reunions he attended where he met with his shipmates and talked about their days at sea.

Upon his discharge he worked as a highly skilled machinist at National Rubber in Clifton, Independence Engineering in Paterson, and Bomont Industries in Totowa. He retired after 51 years as a machinist in 1989.

He was a life member of both the John Raad Post 438 in Paterson and VFW Post 10104 in Totowa. He enjoyed the many trips he took with the Totowa Happy Seniors and looked forward to Bocce games with his Totowa Friends.

He is survived by two sons Joseph of Wayne and Edward, Jr. of Morris Plains. He is also survived by one brother George of Lake Hopatcong. He was predeceased by: his daughter Denise in 1992; five sisters Mary Kabbash, Alice Mattaliano, Catherine Chanatry, Agnes Hayek, Josephine Chidiac, and his brother James.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed's memory would be appreciated to his church; St. Ann Melkite Catholic Church, 802 Rifle Camp Rd., Woodland Park, NJ 07424.
