Services
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 8 AM from the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne then to Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church, Wayne where at 9 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4, 7-9 PM.
Entombment will be in Holy Cross Mausoleum in North Arlington.
Ella M. Varachi (nee Celauro) age 89 of Wayne died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at home. She passed away quietly and peacefully while receiving the loving care of her family.
She was born in Jersey City where she spent her formative years later living in Queens, NY and Bronx, NY when her husband retired from work she lived in Palm Coast Florida for twenty-six years. When her husband John passed away she went to live with her son John Varachi Jr. in Wayne.
Ella received her formal education at Saint Bridget’s Grade School in Jersey City with the Class of 1934 and Saint Michael’s High School in Jersey City graduating with the Class of 1938.
She was a very active person and she enjoyed cooking, quilting, home decorating and especially square dancing with her husband. She leaves her family with memories of a very loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Family gathers and those special dinners that she prepared are especially memorable.
In Ella and John’s retirement in Palm Coast, Florida they where very active in the Italian American Club.
John and Ella had a very “close and loving” marriage together for fifty-nine years until John’s passing in 2005.
Surviving are one son John P. Varachi Jr. and his wife Geri of Wayne; one sister Catherine Boccaccio of Invernesse, Florida; two brothers Joseph Celauro of Belleville and Eugene Celauro and his wife Zona of Milton, Florida; two cherished grandchildren Joseph Varachi and his wife Christine of South Riding, Virginia and Angela Varachi of Wayne.
