Services
Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, 99 Parish Dr., Wayne.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, October 19, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.
Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
Elsie L. Visser(Arp) age 95 of Wayne died Friday, October 16, 2009, peacefully after a short illness, with the comfort of her family by her side.
On October 3rd she celebrated her 95th birthday with a special ladies tea party. In attendance were her two great-grand daughters, daughter-in-law, grand-daughter-in-law and her dearest friends. She was truly blessed with health as this past Wednesday she ate three slices of pizza, went shopping at Kohls, bought two new sweaters, and later had a strawberry milkshake.
She was born in Paterson and raised in Clifton having moved to Wayne in 1947 after marrying the love of her life William Jacob Visser on June 2, 1936. They met through friends and she enjoyed rides in his Model A Ford with a rumble seat. They honeymooned in Niagara Falls, NY and after a few years in Clifton bought property and had a house built in Wayne.
A fifty-two year resident of Wayne she was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Wayne and the Ruth Circle of the church, member of the Golden Age Circle of Wayne, National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees and former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Community Fire Co. No. 1, Wayne.
Beloved wife of the late William Jacob Visser, Sr.(1994); devoted mother of William Visser, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Wayne; loving grandmother of Sherry Tanski and her husband Patrick of Wayne, and Kurt Visser and his wife Jacqueline of Stroudsburg, PA; very proud great-grandmother of Madison and Skylar Tanski, Timothy, Nicholas and William Visser; loving sister of the late Rudolph and Harry Arp.
