Friends may visit with the family at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne, on Sunday, September 20, 2026 from 3-6 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, September 21, 2026, from the funeral home, then to Holy Cross Church, Wayne, where at 11AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Frank will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Saddle Brook, NJ.
Francis John Teixiera, affectionately known as “Franc” to all, age 72 of Lincoln Park, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Born in Jersey City, Franc was raised in Hoboken, a city that remained very much a part of who he was throughout his life. He attended Hoboken High School and later continued his education at Ramapo College. As a young man, Franc briefly spent time in the seminary at Mahwah, NJ, an experience that enhanced the deep Catholic faith that would remain an important part of his life.
From an early age, Franc understood the meaning of hard work, responsibility and caring for others. Growing up as one of six children, he began working while still very young and helped support his family. Those early experiences helped shape the generous, dependable and compassionate man he would become.
Franc devoted his professional life to helping others, particularly individuals with developmental disabilities. He enjoyed a long career of approximately 35 years with The Arc of Bergen and Passaic Counties. Following his retirement, his desire to serve others continued through his volunteer work with the Foundation for the Handicapped, which later became Found Abilities in Wayne. Franc remained actively involved there until his illness. Among his contributions, he established and cared for the organization’s vegetable garden and became a familiar and respected presence within the Found Abilities community.
Franc's faith was central to his life. He was deeply involved in the Catholic Church throughout the years and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Cross. His devotion to St. Francis and the Franciscan tradition was especially meaningful to him and reflected his own lifelong concern for people, service and humility.
Franc was also a man of seemingly endless curiosity. An avid reader, he could move effortlessly from history and philosophy to sports, industry and countless other subjects, and he possessed the remarkable ability to remember what he had learned. He loved a good conversation and was a gifted storyteller who always seemed to have something interesting to contribute. Those who knew him will remember a sociable, well-spoken man who genuinely enjoyed talking with people and sharing what he knew.
His interests were many. Franc loved fishing, particularly at local lakes and streams, and took great pleasure in tending his vegetable garden. He was a devoted New York Yankees fan and had a lifelong fascination with trains, especially Lionel trains, building a collection and layouts over the years. He was also an enthusiastic classic-film buff who enjoyed both American and European cinema, with Casablanca and On the Waterfront among the films especially close to his heart.
Franc met his wife, Michele, while they were both working for The Arc of Bergen and Passaic. Their relationship began in 1995, and they were married in 2003. What began with dinner, a movie and a thoughtful birthday gift of loose tea and a tea bowl grew into a marriage of 23 years and a life filled with love, companionship and shared memories.
Franc shared an especially close relationship with his step-daughter, Danielle Cornell. Danielle, however, never accepted the “step-daughter” title, and had always referred to Franc as her “best friend.” This expressed the love, friendship, and close bond that they shared.
Above all, Franc will be remembered as a good and generous man. He spent his life helping others, supporting his family and quietly making himself useful wherever he was needed. He was a devoted husband, father figure, friend and advocate whose kindness extended well beyond his own family. His life was defined not simply by what he accomplished, but by the many people whose lives were better because Franc was part of them.
Franc was predeceased by his parents, John and Rachella (née Aramini) Teixiera, and by his siblings: Joseph, Rosemarie, Steven, George and Marc.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Michele; his daughter and best friend, Danielle Cornell; his sister-in-law; Grace Beseda (Joseph), brother-in-law Michael Priore (Lynne); his 7th grade teacher and lifelong friend Jim Francese; and the many friends, colleagues and members of the communities he served throughout his life.
Franc leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, loyalty, curiosity and kindness. Those fortunate enough to have known him will remember his stories, his willingness to help and, most importantly, the genuine goodness with which he lived his life.
