Friends may visit with the family at the VanderMay Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne, NJ, on Friday, August 4 from 2:00-4:00 PM. A brief blessing and military service will follow at the funeral home.
On July 29, 2023 Frank A. Novak, age 77, of Franklin Lakes, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly.
Frank was born in Jersey City NJ and raised in Allenhurst, NJ. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, NJ and Wheeling Jesuit University with a degree in Economics.
A Vietnam Veteran who served in the US Army Military Intelligence branch and received The Army Commendation Medal for Distinguished Service.
Frank was a former senior vice-president with Oppenheimer and Co., NYC as an institutional trader.
He is predeceased by his parents Helen and Nicholas Novak and sister Mary Ellen. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary (Mimi) Woodruff, his siblings: Pauline (Noel) Clarke of Boulder, CO, Katherine (Al) Silsby of Charleston, SC, Joanne (Frank, deceased) of Elberon, NJ, and Nick (Susie) of Ocean, NJ, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan and Jerome Barnett of NYC, and many nieces and nephews.
Frank was an avid reader and frequenter of the Franklin Lakes Library. He was a sports enthusiast always cheering for his NY Giants and Yankees. He had a lifelong passion for golf, fostered by his father at a young age at Deal Country Club, continuing to his Wheeling college years when his WJU golf team captured three consecutive conference championships. He relished his two holes in one! Frank looked forward to the daily challenge of the NY Times crossword puzzle for over 50 years.
