Frank A. Marcell, age 70, of Wayne, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021.
The second born of Charles and Madeline (Solimo) Marcell’s three children, Frank was born in Newark and lived there until moving to the house located at 97 Cathay Road in Clifton when he was in grade school.  He then attended St Philips and then graduated from Clifton High School.
Frank entered the workforce at the Coca Cola bottling plant, starting in production before becoming a dispatcher in Paterson and later in NY. He also served as a supervisor at the Parsippany distribution center before rounding out his thirty plus year career with Canada Dry in South Plainfield.

One night, while out with friends at the Dealers Inn in Clifton, Frank met a young lady who would become the love of his life, Mary Lou Kilgour.  After a time of dating, they declared their love for each other in a beautiful wedding ceremony on Saturday, December 9, 1978 at the St. Bonaventure’s Roman Catholic Church in Paterson. Following a reception at The Brownstone in Paterson, they honeymooned in Aruba.

Married life as husband and wife began in an apartment in Clifton. In the 1980’s, Frank and Mary Lou moved to Wayne where they’ve lived to the present.

Frank loved the Jersey shore and so any chance he could find, he and Mary Lou would head down the Garden State Parkway to relax at their condo in Diamond Beach, near Cape May. Frank also loved to dine out and many of his favorite restaurants were in Cape May. He loved German and Belgium beers and he was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Giants as well as watching college basketball. In fact, watching March Madness made those cold days of March go by just a little bit easier.

Although diagnosed at age 33 with MS, he never complained and continued to work full time until he was no longer able.  Even though these last few months were extremely difficult for him he still maintained his sense of humor and fought bravely until the bitter end.

Frank was the beloved husband of Mary Lou, blessed in marriage for 43 years. He was the loving brother of Patty and husband Michael Dicker of New Hope, PA, and Chuck and wife Kathy Marcell of Towaco; dear brother-in-law of: Cathy and husband Peter Conerly of Wayne, Jim Kilgour of Totowa, Susan and husband Rich Zygmunt of Wayne, and Beth and husband Jack Griffin of Wyckoff; dear uncle of: Bryan Dicker, Paul Dicker, Jessica and husband Stephen Bollenbach, Christopher and wife Kristen Marcell, Christine and husband Sean Hietanen, Patrick and wife Laura Conerly, Ryan Conerly, Stephanie Zygmunt, Conor Griffin, and Jack Griffin; dear great-uncle of: Henry Bollenbach, Grace Bollenbach, Mia Marcell, Charlie Marcell, Colin Hietanen, Brynn Hietanen, and CJ Conerly.

For those wishing to express their sympathy, in lieu of flowers a gift in Frank’s name may be sent to Holy Name Medical Center Foundation — Multiple Sclerosis Center at 718 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ 07666.
