Friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 12, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Rd., Wayne. Funeral services will be held 9 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Redeemer Cemetery, Mahwah. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Villa Marie Claire Hospice, 12 West Saddle River Road, Saddle River, NJ 07458 would be appreciated.
George Marschall age 75 of Upper Saddle River, formerly of Wayne, died Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Villa Marie Claire Hospice, Saddle River.
He was born and raised in Nurnburg, Germany having come to the United States at the age of 17 on the ship Italia. He lived with his two sisters Rose and Mary on Gregory Avenue in Passaic and worked as a baker for Klein’s Mayflower Pastry Shop. He lived in Wayne and Bloomingdale before moving to Upper Saddle River in 1988. He truly loved his work as a baker and was upset when he realized he couldn’t work until he was 80 years old. He has worked for Grand Union, Wakefern Foods, Shoprite, and Inserra. Most recently he was the supervisor for the bakery department of 22 Shoprite stores in Northern New Jersey. He did find a great deal of enjoyment in gardening and yard work as well.
He was the loving husband of Ann Marie (Rizzo) Marschall; loving father of Ronald Marschall and his wife Laura of Andover, Gary Marschall of Wayne, and Lisa Spero and her husband Thaddeus of Wolcott, CT; cherished grandfather of Ronald Marschall Jr., Sean Marschall, Ryan Marschall, Jennifer Marschall, Christopher Marschall, Nathaniel Spero, Felicia Spero, Miranda Spero, & Garron Spero & loved brother of the late Mary Knebel, Rose Janusevicius, and Wilhelm Marschall, and is survived by many nephews and nieces.
