Services
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 17, 2007 at 9 AM from the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne then to Saint Ann Melkite Catholic Church, 802 Rifle Camp Road, West Paterson for a 10 AM Funeral Service.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-6 PM.
Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.
Gertrude Ajjan (nee Fattell) “Gert”age 84 of Lavallette on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Hackensack University Hospital. Her passing was quiet and peaceful while she was receiving the loving care of her family.
She was born in Paterson where she also lived her formative years in the Mill Street area. She later lived in Clifton, North Haledon and Monroe, NY before moving to the home of her daughter Karen in Lavallette six years ago.
Gertrude received her formal education at Paterson Public School #3 in Paterson.
She was a member of Saint Ann’s Melkite Catholic Church in West Paterson.
She leaves her family with many fond memories of a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was always extending her love and caring and concerns for her family’s well being. Mom showed great devotion to her family nurturing her children well into their adult lives.
Mom was a wonderful cook specializing in Arabic recipes and pastries to her family’s delight. Family gatherings were often orchestrated and centered on her cooking.
George and Gertrude Ajjan had fifty-seven years of “solid and devoted” marriage together until George’s passing in May of 2005.
Surviving are one daughter Karen Stein and her husband Hilton of Lavallette; two sons Dr. George M. Ajjan and his wife Mary Joan of Franklin Lakes and John B. Ajjan and his wife Frances of Monroe, New York; two sisters Julia Reichel and Mary Fattell both of Clifton; eight grandchildren, George Charles Ajjan, Brian Ajjan and his wife Chamin, Kevin Ajjan, Vanessa Karam and her husband Jean-Pierre, Valerie Ajjan, Marc Stein, Jenny Ajjan and Lauren Stein; and one great-grandchild Kevin Brian Ajjan.
She was predeceased by her brother Anthony Fattell and her sister Anna Lozy.
