Gladys Eleanor Bradshaw (nee Berninger) age 84 of Wayne, died November 17, 2006 peacefully at Chilton Memorial Hospital.

Born in the Vailsburg section of Newark, she graduated from Newark Central High School in 1940 and attended the Delahanty Business College. She was employed by the Prudential Insurance Company and assisted in recruiting for the Office of Dependency Benefits during WWII.

In 1943, she married Robert D. Bradshaw, Jr. in the chapel of Mitchell Army Air Force Base and resided in various fighter bases in the U.S., supporting her husband’s Air Force career.

She lived in the Allwood section of Clifton for 10 years prior to moving, in 1957, to the Preakness section of Wayne, where she remained. She was a member of both the Allwood Woman’s Club and the Preakness Woman’s Club.

Robert and Gladys had an “ideal storybook” marriage together for sixty-three years.

She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Bradshaw, Jr., son, Robert D. Bradshaw, III, and her daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Bradshaw of Texas.
