A Funeral Mass will be offered 10 AM on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Our Lady of Consolation RC Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpk., Wayne.
Grace Ann O’Connor Schildkamp (nee Zisa) age 79 of Wayne died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the Hospice of NJ, Saint Josephs Wayne Hospital, Wayne.
The daughter of Stefano and Sarah(Saia) Zisa, who emigrated to this country, from Sicily, through Ellis Island in the early 1900’s. She was born and raised in Paterson having lived in Newark and Totowa before moving to Wayne thirty-eight years ago.
She graduated from Central High School, Paterson with the class of 1946.
Mrs. Schildkamp was a secretary in the personnel department of the Witco Chemical Company, Paterson for twenty three years before retiring in 1986.
Grace was a devout Catholic and was known to visit the St. Anthony’s Shrine in Paterson every Tuesday, without fail. She was a kind and caring person, who devoted her life to her sons. She also had a small circle of ‘solid’ friends that were all very dear to her. She enjoyed a special relationship with her sister Jo. They often spoke for hours on the phone, breaking the call only for meals and rest. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
She moved to Totowa in 1962 and in 1969 married John O’Connor who passed away in 1971. Her years of marriage to John, whom she met at Witco Chemical, were in her words: “the best years of her life”.
Former wife of Raymond J. Ciampi, beloved wife of the late John O’Connor (1971), and former wife of the late Robert Schildkamp; devoted mother of Marc Ciampi and his wife Marie Angela (Pixie) of Riverdale and Raymond Ciampi of Wayne and his longtime girlfriend Cathy Rusyniak of Pompton Lakes; cherished grandmother of Matthew J. Ciampi; beloved sister of Bill Zisa of Paterson, Fran Jannicelli of Lake Hopatcong, “Jo” Josephine Sliker of Wayne, Laura Breitenkamm of Wayne, Mary Letendre of Scottsdale, AZ; the late Joseph and Louis Zisa; cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donation to Our Lady of Consolation RC Church, 1799 Hamburg Tpk. Wayne, NJ 07470 or the St. Anthony Shrine at St. Bonaventure RC Church, 174 Ramsey Street Paterson, New Jersey 07501 would be appreciated.
