Hedwig M. Rohsler “Hattie” (nee Becker) age 77 of Wayne died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at the Saint Joseph’s Wayne Hospital in the Hospice of New Jersey facility in Wayne. Her passing was quiet and peaceful after a life long battle with cancer. Her outlook and demeanor through her health challenges were an inspiration to other cancer patients.
She was born in Garfield and had lived there, Hasbrouck Heights and West Milford before moving to Wayne fourteen-years ago.
Her work career was in Office Administration and most recently she was the Secretary at the Little Falls Methodist Church in Little Falls.
Hattie was gifted with a personality that was always reaching out, with helpful sincerity, to others in their time of need.
Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, crafts and reading. She was very active in the Eastern Star.
Hattie was an active member of the New Jersey Order of the Eastern Star. She was currently a member of Jephtha Chapter #134 and was also affiliated with Little Falls Chapter #224. In the past she served in many positions such as Past Matron of Garfield Chapter, Jephtha Chapter, and Little Falls Chapter. Hattie was also a Past Grand Officer and a Past District Officer. Hattie had a special affection for the Eastern Star Home in Bridgewater, NJ. She faithfully visited the residents at the home and was always ready to provide companionship and comfort.
For this reason, her family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Hattie's memory to: NJ Order of the Eastern Star Home 111 Finderne Avenue Bridgewater, NJ 08807
She leaves her family with many fond memories of a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her cooking of holiday meals is especially memorable. Perhaps the most delightful highlight of her life was the arrival of her grand sons Raymond and Daniel whom she embraced with much love and devotion.
Raymond and Hedwig had twenty-eight years of “faithful devoted marriage” before Raymond’s passing in 1979.
Surviving are two sons Gerald Rohsler and his wife Maria of Wayne and Matthew Rohsler of Fredon; six grandchildren Raymond, Daniel, Cameron, Katelyn, Cortlandt and Kerrigan.
She was predeceased by her sister Laura Cozic in 1978.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the NJ Order of the Eastern Star Home 111 Finderne Avenue Bridgewater, NJ 08807 would be appreciated.
