Adelheid “Heidi” Louise Hennig (nee Lutter) age 82 of Wayne passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
She was born in Lippstadt, Germany and came to the United States for a better life. She worked at her uncle’s restaurant in New York City and eventually met a cute guy named Robert. Heidi and Robert were introduced through his mother and they soon fell in love and married on December 6, 1958. They honeymooned in Florida and had a joy filled marriage of 56 years.
Heidi was a kind, loving, and outgoing person who always had family holidays at her home. She was a great cook and made all kinds of German specialties. Her loving touch on her German Potato Salad will be greatly missed. She loved living in the Packanack Lake section of Wayne and played in the local volleyball league for many years. Over the years she had three Weimaraner dogs she loved very much. Most of all Heidi was dedicated to her grandchildren. She adored them, having pictures of them throughout her home, and relished in all their accomplishments.
She was the loving wife of Robert E. Hennig; loving mother of Robert P. Hennig and his wife Sharon of Randolph; cherished grandmother of Kevin, Austin, and Jaime Hennig all of Randolph; loved sister of Anne Liese Schmidt of Lippstadt, Germany, the late Friedhelm Lutter, and the late Robert Lutter and his surviving wife Ursula.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to St Jude Children's Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0412 would be appreciated.
