Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Rd., Wayne.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11, 2012 8:30 AM from the funeral home then to Annunciation RC Church, 45 Urban Club Road, Wayne where a 9:30 AM Funeral Mass will be offered.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Paterson.
Helen Guzik (nee Rog) age 84 of Newton, formerly of Pompton Lakes died peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2012.
She was born in Clifton and met the love of her life, Edmund S. Guzik, through her extended family. They married on September 13, 1947 at Saint Josephs RC Church, Passaic. They took a bus to the Poconos for their honeymoon and established their home in Paterson.
Helen was a secretary for the Hoffman La-Roche Company, Clifton before raising her family. They had three of their four children while living in Paterson and later moved to Pompton Lakes where they had their fourth child.
She was a parishioner of Annunciation RC Church in Wayne where she was a Eucharistic Minister, member of the choir and the Prime Timers. She also volunteered at Eva’s Kitchen in Paterson.
Helen enjoyed all types of sports and was an accomplished bowler. It is rumored that Edmund and Helen’s first date was to a bowling alley.
She is the beloved wife of sixty-five years to Edmund S. Guzik; devoted mother of Stephen Guzik and his wife Susan of Milltown, Cinthia Irwin and her husband Kenneth of Moorestown, Sharon Woelfel and her husband Eric of Long Valley and the late Glenn Guzik(2002); cherished grandmother of Jonathan Guzik of Clark and Luke Woelfel of Long Valley; beloved sister of the late Frances Dabal, Veronica Bonkowski, Stephanie Nogrady and Jean Zajac.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860 would be appreciated.
