Services
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at 10 AM at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 7-9 PM.
Irene Koshlap age 88, of Ann Arbor, MI formerly of Packanack Lake, Wayne, NJ. She died on Thursday, September 28, 2006 at Superior Woods Healthcare Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she had been living to be near her daughter Barbara Pomey.
She was born in Garfield, NJ and had lived in the Packanack Lake section of Wayne before moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan nine years ago.
Irene received her formal education at Garfield High School graduating with the Class of 1935. She went on to study at the University of Michigan where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education with the Class of 1939. She later went to Montclair State College and received a Masters in Physical Education with the Class of 1964. She taught High School physical education and later was a Guidance Counselor. Throughout her career she strove to promote equality in women’s sports. She served as a National Collegiate Basketball Official for many years.
She was a parishioner of the Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church in Wayne.
Her family will always hold dear the memory of a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a friend to many. She will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing her.
Julius and Irene had fifty-nine years of loving and devoted marriage together until his passing in 2001.
Surviving are one daughter Barbara Pomey and her husband George of Ann Arbor, Michigan; three sons Donald Koshlap and his wife Betsy of Naples, Florida, James Koshlap and his wife Rhoda of Knoxville, Tennessee, Richard Koshlap of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren Kristy Patmore and her husband Doug of Freehold, NJ, Jill Robert and her husband Dale of Jackson, Michigan, Joseph Pomey and his wife Lydia of Illinois, Christopher Pomey of Whitmore Lake, Michigan, Kelly Koshlap and his wife Aimee of Indiana, Brandon Koshlap, Darren Koshlap, and Cara Fort and her husband Jeremy of Atlanta, Georgia; nine great grandchildren Stacy, Emily and Rebecca Robert, Nicholas and Alexandra Pomey, Reilly, Taylor and Lauren Koshlap, Kylie Patmore.
