Jean Marie Van Dalinda, age 68 of Haskell and formerly of N. Haledon, died on Saturday, March 7, 2015 with her daughters at her bedside.
Jean was raised in Paterson and had lived in the Riverside section before moving to North Haledon in 1982. She moved to Haskell in 2006 to be closer to her two daugthers.
For the past seventeen years, Jean has been working at the Hackensack University Medical Center, as a Credentialing Coordinator. She had also been a bartender at Bogey’s in Clifton.
Jean had a warm, wonderful personality and easily made friends. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. More than anything else though, she loved to lounge by her pool and simply relax with a good book.
Despite having two loving daughters and a host of dear friends, there was no denying that Jeans heart belonged to her cats. On one occasion, she found newborn kittens whose mother was only about a year old and too inexperienced to properly care for the newborn kittens. Jean took them into her home and bottle fed them to maturity. Once they were old enough to be adopted Jean had a change of heart and just couldn’t let any of them go! Seven years later, she still has those cats. She was devoted to all of her animals and there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them. Even as she lay desperately ill in the hospital just a few days ago, Jean whispered to her daughter that she was concerned for the cats. She truly loved them, including her daughters dogs; Romi, Amber and Buddy. They will all miss her dearly.
Jean is survived by her two daughters; Toni DeNoble and her husband John of Haskell, Roxann Unis and her husband Raymond of Haskell, two nieces; Michele Staso and her husband Larry of N. Haledon, Gina Mastrogiovanni of N. Haledon, and one nephew; Matthew Mastrogiovanni, Jr., of N. Haledon, her brother-in-law; Matthew Mastrogiovanni of N. Haledon, and a large extended family and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her sister Joan Mastrogiovanni in 2014.
Since Jean was so dedicated to caring for animals, donations in her memory would be greatly appreciated to P.A.T.C.H., 26 Lakeside Avenue, Pompton Lakes, NJ 07442.
