Services
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, 2013 at 9 AM from the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne then to Our Lady of Consolation RC Church where at 10 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 PM.
Entombment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Mausoleum in Totowa.
Jo Ann Walter (nee Cofrancesco) of Wayne, NJ passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, April 21, 2013.
Jo Ann was born in Paterson where she lived her childhood years. She received her formal education at Paterson’s Central High School and then went on to study nursing at Passaic County Community College and then Felician College in South Hackensack where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree and later a Master’s Degree from Seton Hall University. Jo Ann graduated Magna Cum Laude from all colleges and was a member of Kappa Gamma Pl.
Her long and dedicated career in nursing began at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. She then worked for Patient Care Incorporated, the Passaic Valley Visiting Health Services in Totowa, and was director of health services at Passaic Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross in Wayne. She was Patient Care Manager at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains, also a Beth Israel Hospital in Passaic and twenty-four years as Executive Director of Englewood Home Health Services/ Hospice.
Jo Ann Cofrancesco met Ken in a hospital setting with him being the patient do to a volleyball injury, and Jo Ann the care giver. About two years later he ran into her shopping while at Macy’s Department Store. They had lunch together, and eventually fell in love and then joined their hearts in marriage. They very much loved and supported each other and were thankful for every day together.
Jo Ann was gifted with a caring personality that brought her much satisfaction personally in helping others. Her chosen station in life was as a care giver nurse and she pursued her given skills to perfection for all the lives she was privileged to help. She found joy in helping others with their health problems. Jo Ann found the perfect occupation for her life.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband Kenneth E. Walter; her children Jaclyn Braddock and husband Thomas, Kenneth Walter, Jr. and his wife Deborah, Robert Walter and his wife Donna and Denise Mara and her husband John. She is the cherished grandmother of Tyler and Matthew Braddock, Kenneth Walter, Kristen Henandez, Danielle Bush, Rhonda Lysiak, Lauren Cheput, Courtney Billings, John Marra Jr., Christine Ward, Erin Mara and twelve great grandchildren. Jo Ann is also survived by her sister Arlene Willis and her brother Richard Cofrancesco. She also is survived by nieces Adrienne, Meghan and nephews Ryan and Lewis.
She was predeceased by her parents Louis Cofrancesco and Lee Ecenia Hickman; also she was predeceased by her brothers Louis and Glenn Cofrancesco.
