Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the Packanack Community Church, 120 Lake Drive East, Wayne.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 10, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne.
Joan “Ty” Nelson Hall (nee Tygert) age 77 of Wayne died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at the Care One Senior Care Facility, Wayne.
She was born in Passaic and lived in Rutherford, Montclair and McCormick, SC having been a resident of Wayne for fifty years.
She graduated from Montclair High School, Montclair with the class of 1947. She continued her education at Hood College, Maryland and received her teaching degree from Mills College, NY with the class of 1952.
Ty was a teacher for the Pines Lake School, Wayne and the Packanack Community Nursery School, Wayne for many years.
She was a member of the Packanack Community Church, Wayne and a member of the church choir.
Ty was a volunteer music teacher at the Packanack Co-Operative Nursery School, Wayne, a swimming and tennis coach for the NJ Special Olympics, a member of the National Audubon Society, a daily Packanack Lake walker, an avid gardener, she loved children and could be found babysitting throughout the neighborhood.
She loved music and was a season ticket holder to the NJ Pac, Newark, the Metropolitan Opera, NYC and often attended the Paper Mill Playhouse productions. Ty also enjoyed reading and keeping up with current events; she read the NY Times every day.
She was predeceased by her husband of forty-four years Sidney H. Nelson in 1997.
Wife of Robert Hall; beloved mother of Karen Nemeth of Newtown, PA and Ken Nelson and his wife Sheri of Moorestown; cherished grandmother of Leah and Larissa Nemeth, David, Dana and Bobby Nelson and T.J. Cassidy; loved sister of Betty Anderson and her husband Leonard of Dalton, MA and the late Jack Tygert; favored aunt of many nieces an nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the NJ Special Olympics, 3 Princess Rd., Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 would be appreciated.
