John A. Hirth, age 85 of Wayne, died on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Bristol Glen in Newton, NJ. His passing was quiet and peaceful.
John was born in and had lived his youthful years in Jersey City where he had his formal education.
One of his first jobs was at an auto body shop painting automobiles. He wanted to better himself and he sought employment at a tool and die makers shop and learned the trade of “Tool and Die” making. His employer recognized that he was skilled and precise with his work and had an innate mathematical ability. These personal qualities brought him success in his life and made him a good provider for his family.
He went on to work at Patent Clasp Company in Hackensack manufacturers of belt buckles and other garment related accessories. John finally retired in 1996.
John was gifted with a personality that reached out to others. You would always witness a positive and friendly hello to everyone he met and it was through that gift of personality that he made many friends.
Perhaps his finest dedication in life was to his family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who was always concerned about his family. He provided well for them.
He met a beautiful girl by the name of Edna and they soon married and had a very “loving and contented marriage” together until Edna’s passing in July of 1994.
John was dedicated to his Roman Catholic Faith and was a parishioner of Our Lady of The Valley Church in Wayne.
He was an active member of the Golden Age Circle of Wayne.
Surviving are one daughter Kathleen Geldmaker and her husband Fred of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one son Richard Hirth of Hamburg; three grandchildren Timothy, William and Laura Geldmaker.
He was predeceased by his daughter in law Marlene Hirth in 2006, his brother George Hirth and his sister Elsie Lynch.
