John C. Kachadurian, (better known as “Kach”) age 67, of Cedar Grove, passed Wednesday, August 17, 2016.

He was bornin Paterson and raised in Wyckoff having attended Ramapo High School with the Class of 1966. He continued his education at Wagner College in Staten Island, NY where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was inducted into the Ramapo High School Hall of Fame for his outstanding skills as a running back on the football field. In addition his fame as a star football player followed him into the Hall of Fame at Wagner College.

Jack began a career in the New York City textile industry as a warehouseman. His work ethic and charismatic nature soon had him hosting fabric parties at various homes. His good looks and charming way had wallets opening freely.  Jack soon founded his own textile company called Textured Fabs in New York. He would grow and expand this company to the point that it caught the attention of investors looking to diversify. His company was purchased and he became the President and CEO of the Itochu Prominent USA textile division, a Global 500 Company. He tried to retire but because of his work ethic and breadth of industry specific knowledge he was kept on as a part-time consultant working a few days a week. Jack worked in the New York City textile industry for over thirty years.

Jack will be remembered as a charming, energetic, determined, hardworking, loyal and compassionate man who had a soft spot in his heart for all that knew him. He was an exceptional athlete and during his high school and college years he excelled as a running back.  His running back skills and large thighs earned him the nickname “thigh man” in high school – a nickname that followed him through his college years.  After his collegiate years he took a liking to tennis.  He was the North Jersey Country Club champion for a time, and could often be found at the Nutley Tennis Club.

Jack met his future wife, Pamela Perazzone, through his best friend Rolf.  Their first date was going out to dinner in New York City and soon Jack proposed to Pam.  He took her out to dinner in New York to a restaurant called “A Quiet Little Place in the Corner.”  He had bought Pam an outfit and when she opened the box the engagement ring was within.  They married on July 21, 1979 at Our Lady of Consolation Church in Wayne and honeymooned in the Bahamas.  Pam and Jack have enjoyed thirty-seven years of loving and devoted marriage.

Jack was the loving husband of Pamela (Perazzone) Kachadurian; devoted son of Albert Kachadurian of Pompton Plains and the late Janet Kachadurian (2011); much loved brother of Gail McCallion of New York City, and Janet Orwig of Reading, PA.  He was dearly loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Those contemplating a memorial donation are asked to consider the Ronald MacDonald House Charities, 26345 Network Place, Chicago, IL 60673-1263.
