John De Biasio age 95 of Wayne passed away peacefully on August 5, 2016.

John was born in the United States in 1921 to Luigi and Emma De Biasio. At the age of two, he moved to Italy with his mother to join his extended family. Shortly after his eighth birthday he, his mother, and siblings returned to his father in the United States, where he would live a long, happy, and healthful life.

At a young age, John entered the world of gear manufacturing as a machinist. Early in his career and through World War II, he worked his way up to become foreman at Watson-Flagg producing precision gears for military aircraft. During this time, he collaborated with researchers at the New Jersey Institute of Technology to improve on the manufacturing process of military helicopter rotor gears. After the war he rose further into management spending ten years as a manufacturing supervisor at Precision Gear. In the late fifties, John was instrumental in building and establishing Eastern Gear in Paterson as the company’s Vice President. There he expanded his career in specialty manufacturing as he oversaw the production of bespoke gears of the highest quality for twenty-five years until his retirement in 1984.

One evening out at a dance during the Second World War, John was incredibly fortunate to meet a beautiful woman named Stella Groncki. They danced together, began a wonderful courtship, and soon fell in love. They were married at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Passaic in 1944 and celebrated their honeymoon in New York City. They initially settled in Clifton, NJ where they lived for fifteen years before finding their permanent home in Wayne. John had a loving soul able to see through to the good in all people, and he instilled that value in his family, his greatest devotion in life. His happiest moments in life were spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

John lived an active, social life with many diverse interests. He was a devout Yankees fan who had the privilege of witnessing some of Mickey Mantle’s greatest achievements. He loved to socialize by going out dancing with his wife and friends. He was the go-to handyman to fix things around his own house or those of his friends. He was also an avid traveler because he loved to explore the world’s cultural diversity; however, he would always believe the United States to be the most beautiful country in the world no matter how many wonderful places he visited. John was a loving Catholic and founding member of Our Lady of the Valley Roman Catholic Church in Wayne. He was an extraordinary person who touched the lives of many people and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

John was defined by his generous spirit and love of life and family. He loved people, whether dancing with friends or traveling the world. He was ahead of his time as he taught his children the importance of caring for all people without prejudice. Most importantly he loved his family: his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and beyond all else his loving wife. He cherished and adored Stella throughout their seventy-two years of loving and loyal marriage together. He never stopped seeing her as the most beautiful woman in the world.

John is survived by his wife Stella (nee Groncki), two daughters; Barbara DeCamp and her husband Tim of Wayne, and Joan Chrisbacher and her husband Al of Stonington, CT, one son; John and his wife Lynn of River Vale, twelve grandchildren; John, Donna, Jason, Michele, Kristy, Thomas, Justin, Nicole, Danielle, Lauren, Kim, and Greg, and eight great-grandchildren; Elise, Amy, Alexander, Alexa, Gavin, Isabella, Ian, and Emilia. He was predeceased by his sister Josephine Strehl, his two brothers Ernesto and Anthony, and his granddaughter Karen.
