John “Jack” F. Eagan age 91, a forty year resident of the Lake Iosco section of Haskell, passed Tuesday, August 11, 2015. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY having moved to Haworth, New Jersey at the age of thirteen.
Jack graduated from Dumont High School with the Class of 1942. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII having attained the rank of Ensign during his service. After his service he attended Columbia College in NYC where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with the Class of 1948.
He worked for United Parcel Service (UPS) for his entire career. He was an Industrial Engineer having worked at their New York City Headquarters and continued with them when they moved to Greenwich, Connecticut. He retired in 1989 after a career of forty years.
To say Jack loved to travel is an understatement. He was a member of the Century Travelers Club having visited 189 countries in his travels. Some of the countries on his list he had visited more than once. At the age of eight Jack lost his father and became the “man of the house.” This was a job he took very seriously. He sought out responsibility, was calm, supportive, and as the years went by he would help anyone he could. He was also a gentleman in every sense of the word.
Jack is survived by his two children Chris Eagan and his wife Violet, and Ria Eagan and her wife Pam; two granddaughters Kelsy Eagan and her husband Ren Richmond, and Kristy Eagan, one great-grandson Henry John “Jack” Richmond; and one sister Eileen Mack and the late Audrey Yatchisin.
In consideration of Jack’s love of the world, those considering memorial donations are asked to donate to UNICEF.
