Joseph Francis Broschart age 79 of Wayne died Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains. He died quietly and peacefully having received the loving care of his family.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York and had lived in Astoria, NY, Flushing, NY and Franklin Square, NY before moving to Wayne forty-five years ago.
He received his formal education at the Brooklyn Preparatory Jesuit High School in Brooklyn, NY with the Class of 1945 and at Brooklyn Poly Technical University where he majored in Chemical Engineering.
He was employed at the American Cyanamid Corporation in Wayne for forty two years as a Chemical Engineer before his retirement in 1986.
Joseph served in the Navy in the Hospital Corps during World War II as a medic.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation RC Church in Wayne.
Joseph was an avid nature lover, a bird watcher and a member of the Audubon Society. He also loved to do wood carving and photography. He also lectured, as a master gardener, as part of the Rutgers University Cooperative Extension Service
He leaves his family with many fond memories of a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. As a family he orchestrated many memorable vacations to New England down south, and out west. Especially delightful was the family's visit to the Grand Canyon and National Parks.
Grandchildren were very special in his life and he loved to baby sit and be with his grandchildren. He taught them gardening and in general was a wonderful loving grandfather in many ways.
Surviving are his wife Hilda (nee Winghart) Broschart; two daughters Susan Rose and her husband William of Somerset, Carol Devenney and her husband Joseph of Blairstown; one son Stephen Broschart and his wife Barbara of Camas, Washington; one brother Gerard Broschart and his wife Dolores of Riverhead, NY; three grandchildren Christopher and Ryan Devenney and Geoffrey Broschart.
