Services
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2007 8:30 AM from the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne then to Annunciation RC Church, 45 Urban Club Road, Wayne where at 9:30 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday, July 30, from 2-4 and 7-9.
Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus, with her husband Michael.
Josephine M. Osborne age 98 of Wayne died Friday, July 27, 2007 at home.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY having been raised in Dumont, NJ where she graduated from Dumont High School with the class of 1927. Josephine returned to Brooklyn, NY and later lived in Englewood, NJ, New Milford, Lanoka Harbor and Crestwood Village in Whiting before moving to Wayne ten years ago.
Josephine was a statistical typist for Bell Labs, NYC for fifteen years.
She was formerly a member of the Rosary Society at St.Josephs Parish in Oradel and always an active volunteer at her church.
Josephine was a member of the Golden Age Circle of Wayne.
She will be remembered for her 'get-up-and-go' and her love of children. Josphine enjoyed her volunteer work at the local school even after her retirement. At the age of 98 she attended her granddaughter's wedding saying "I wouldn't miss it for the world!"
Josephine was one of the original residents of Summer Hill Senior apartments in Wayne. She was admired and loved by many of the residents at Summer Hill. She couldn't walk the halls without getting a kiss and a hug. After her granddaughter visited the office recently she came home and said "grandma is a celebrity in this place,"
She was married to Michael Osborne on July 31, 1937 at Saint Marys RC Church in Dumont and honeymooned in Cork, Ireland. Michael predeceased her in 1979.
Beloved mother of William Osborne of Franklin Lakes, George Osborne and his wife Eileen of Wayne, Claire Huegel and her husband Robert of Flower Mound, TX, Kevin Osborne and his wife Tracey of Jasper, GA and Thomas Osborne and his wife Kathy of Dumont; loved sister of Morita Sferra of Whiting, Joseph Alonso and his wife Mary of Paramus and she was preceded in death by sisters Delores Del Re, Mary Alonso and Helene Heinz; cherished grandmother of seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Valley Hospice, 15 Essex Road, Paramus, NJ 07652 would be appreciated.
