Katherine Steiner

Katherine Steiner age 104 of Wayne passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2020.

Katherine was born in Paterson to Frank and Mari Steiner. Her parents and two brothers moved to Prospect Park where Katherine would spend her formative years. Like most people of her generation, she grew up during the deprivation of the Great Depression and later as a young adult bore witness to the Second World War. It was indeed hard to find work after Katherine graduated from high school, but eventually she found a job at a shirt factory called Liondale Shirt Company in Paterson where she worked as a seamstress for approximately five years. Katherine then left that position and earned another job as a seamstress with Brooks Brothers in Paterson where she was ultimately promoted to a supervisory position. Katherine remained with Brooks Brothers until her retirement in 1981.

Over the years Katherine enjoyed line dancing – both performing and teaching it in various nursing homes and other organizations.  She also enjoyed traveling around the world to places such as Italy, Spain, Russia, Poland, and Scandinavia.  Katherine was a member of the Chapter of AARP and a member of the Golden Agers of Wayne. She was also a parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley RC Church in Wayne.

Katherine is survived by her niece Marie Steiner of Clifton and was predeceased by her brothers Frank Steiner in 2006 and Lenhart Steiner in 1998.
