Kevin C. Manneback, age 36 of Pompton Lakes, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 10, 2021.
Kevin was born in Westwood, NJ and was raised in Pompton Lakes where he remained a life-long resident. He was a graduate of Pompton Lakes High School with the Class of 2003 and during his high school years he competed on the fencing team and played his saxophone in the school’s marching band. He was presently working as a machine shop operator for BER Plastics in nearby Riverdale.
Like his father before him, Kevin wanted to be a fireman. He couldn’t wait to turn 18 which was the minimum age to volunteer. In fact, he wasted absolutely no time and actually signed up on his eighteenth birthday. He was an eighteen-year member and former Lieutenant of Pompton Lakes Fire Company Number 2. He also served as a delegate to the New Jersey State Fireman’s Relief Association and was known to be a great presence in the firehouse who was always up for fun.
Kevin met the love of his life, Amanda Corter through mutual friends and their first date was five years ago. Kevin picked Amanda up from her house in Vernon in his 1996 blue Jeep Cherokee. They went for dinner to Kites American Grill in Vernon. Four years ago, they welcomed the birth of a baby boy which they named Charlie, and Charlie was truly the greatest thrill of Kevin’s life. He absolutely adored him and being a kid at heart himself, he loved spending time with Charlie and his nephews Lucas and Brody.
Kevin was so full of life. He loved going to the movies and went with such great frequency, the theater should have had a reserved seat with his name on it. He loved fireworks, going with Amanda to Dave and Busters, and Christmas was one of his favorite holiday seasons. He loved Christmas lights and Christmas music, especially Hallelujah by Pentatonix, and every year he watched Christmas classics like Elf and The Santa Clause. He loved to dance and he couldn’t help but be the life of the party. Kevin was an avid fisherman like his grandfathers. Kevin started fishing when his father took him trout fishing on opening day of the season when he was just seven years old. On that day his father caught a dinky little fish and Kevin caught “the big one!” Pardon the pun, but Kevin was hooked on fishing from that day forward. Carrying on the tradition, Kevin took his nephew Lucas fishing. He always carried a pole in his car, just in case he ever wanted to cast the line on a whim. One of his favorite fishing holes was at Hershfield Park in Pompton Lakes and he also frequently went deep sea fishing including a long-standing tradition of an annual fishing trip every year with his friends. Kevin loved to watch Giants football but recently started watching NASCAR racing because his son Charlie is just crazy about cars. On Sundays, Kevin would want to watch the football game but he’d put on the race instead because he knew how happy it would make Charlie.
Kevin was a long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church in Pompton Lakes. He enjoyed Sunday mornings at church with his mother, Amanda and Charlie. At the end of the service Kevin would enjoy watching Charlie count out loud as each one of the candles were being put out.
Everyone was Kevin’s best friend. He was a super outgoing guy who simply loved people. It didn’t matter if you were rich or poor, well known or not really known at all, Kevin would have liked you. He would do anything for a friend and, if you were a friend, he would consider you family. Kevin had a deep and abiding love for his entire family. He sparked so much joy and they will all be forever grateful for the impact he played in their lives.
Kevin was the loving son of Charles J. Manneback, Jr. and Karen (Woegens) Manneback: Beloved companion of Amanda Corter; adoring father of Charles James Manneback; dear brother of Christa and husband Tim Scott; much-loved grandson of Ruth Manneback, and his deceased grandparents Charles J. Manneback, Sr., and June and Ernest Woegens, and dear uncle of Lucas and Brody Scott. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy in Kevin’s name are asked to consider a donation to Christ Episcopal Church, 400 Ramapo Avenue, Pompton Lakes, NJ 07442.
