Services
Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 2-5 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson.
Lucille E. (Hoblin) Sergeant Raczkowski age 89 of Whiting, formerly of Wayne on Friday, October 16, 2009.
She was born in Passaic and lived in Wayne and Forestville, NY before moving to Whiting seventeen years ago.
Her husband, Joseph Sergeant, was killed tragically in a fall on a train platform in 1944. She was determined to raise her two year old son Joseph on her own. They moved in with Lucille’s mother and she took a job as a clerk for the Western Union Company, New York City before her retirement in 1971.
She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church, Passaic for many years.
Lucille was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Sergeant(1944) and Joseph Raczkowski(1980); loving mother of Joseph Sergeant and his wife Diane of Wayne; cherished grandmother of Kim Caccavale and her husband Mark of Medina, OH, Kelley Porada and her husband Mark of Wayne and Joseph Sergeant of Wayne; cherished great grandmother of Kristen Caccavale, Briane Caccavel and Ryan Porada; loving sister of Ruth VanHouten of Forked River and the late Olive Leggrotoglie and Evelyn Merbler.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the First Baptist Church, 150 Gregory Ave., Passaic, NJ 07055 would be appreciated.
