Friends may visit at the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Rd., Wayne, on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
Funeral Services will be held at 8:30 AM on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from the funeral home, then to Our Lady of Consolation RC Church, Wayne, for a 9:30 AM Funeral Mass.
Marie Celeste (nee Quagliana), age 78 of Lions Head Lake in Wayne, passed on Saturday, July 28, 2012. Her passing was quiet and peaceful with her loving family at her bedside.
She was born in Jersey City and lived her formative years in Union City. She had a very happy childhood and received her formal education at Edison Grammar School in Union City and then at Emerson High School also in Union City graduating with the Class of 1952. Her favorite activity in High School was being a Majorette in the high school Band.
Marie was very devoted to her Roman Catholic Faith and was a Parishioner at Saint Anthony’s church in Union City. While living in Wayne, she was an active member of Our Lady of Consolation RC Church in Wayne. She and her husband Nick ran also ran the Our Lady of Consolation Seniors Club for the past two years.
Nicholas and Marie met at a dance held at Saint Anthony’s Church in Union City. They courted for two years and then decided to marry. Their wedding date was October 17, 1954. They had a “considerate and supportive” relationship. The final result was that they had a “loving, affectionate and understanding” marriage together for fifty-eight years.
Marie was a very loving mother always concerned about her son Nicholas and her daughter Karen. She was the best Mother in the whole world. When grandchildren arrived in her life journey, things even got better because she loved them to pieces. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life.
She was the beloved wife of Nicholas Celeste of Wayne for fifty eight years; loving mother of Nicholas Celeste of Flemington and Karen Zaccaria and her husband John of Wayne; loving sister of Theresa Acquaviva and her husband Jerry; and three grandchildren; Angelina Zaccaria, Nicholas and Matthew Celeste.
