Mariela Kuebler, age 81, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026. Mariela was courageous and strong in her fight against her physical disabilities for the past 51 years. She is now at peace with her Lord and Savior in her heavenly home.
Mariela was born in 1945, in Colombia, South America, and was raised there with her twelve siblings.
Mariela moved to the United States at age nineteen and worked as a bilingual translator for the United Nations before marrying Erwin Werner Kuebler. Mariela and Erwin lived as husband and wife in Verona, NJ, where daughters Catherine and Susan were born. Mariela was working as a paralegal at the time of her medical accident in 1975, which left her fighting for her life and unable to care for herself or her family. It was at that time that she prayed, gave her life to Christ, and promised God that if He would let her live, she would raise her family the way God wanted her to, according to His ways. God did let her live and gave her the strength to endure intensive rehabilitation for the next 4 years.
Mariela's newly married younger sister and brother-in-law, Elvia and Wayne Pinnix, graciously took in Cathy and Susan and raised and loved them as their own from 1975-1979, while Mariela underwent intensive rehabilitation, with the support of her husband Erwin and the support of her brothers and her sister Letty. Mariela, Erwin, Cathy, and Susan were reunited in 1979, and returned to their home in Verona, NJ. Despite Mariela's physical limitations, she ran a tight ship at home. She kept her promise to God and raised her daughters to honor and love Him.
Now that Mariela has gone to her new home in heaven, she has been set free from her physical limitations that she had to carry for so many years. Enjoy your new wings Mariela! We know how deeply you loved your family - all of them - and you will always be a part of us.
Mariela is survived by her two dearly loved daughters, Cathy Betancourt and husband Dino, and Susan Myhren and husband David; her five adored grandchildren: Deborah Myhren, Summer Myhren, Jessie Betancourt, Kenny Betancourt, and Brandy Betancourt; five of her twelve dear siblings: John Santamaria and wife Daissy, Elvia Pinnix, Rafael Santamaria and wife Libia, Luis Santamaria, and Maria Letty Santamaria Bernal; and multiple dear nieces and nephews.
