Marilyn Sentowski passed away August 11th in Tucson, AZ. She was born August 17, 1943, in Greenpoint, NY, attended Delehanty High School and graduated from Saint Elizabeth University in 1964. Marilyn & her husband of 58 years, John, resided in Lincoln Park, NJ for 34 years and raised their 3 sons there. She was a parishioner of St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church and made lifelong friends with the neighboring families.
Later, she and John built their dream home and retired to Quechee, VT. Marilyn was an avid reader, knitter and began quilting when they moved to Vermont. She soon became an expert at it. She gifted many of her spectacular quilts to family and friends to mark special occasions. Marilyn spent her days in Quechee volunteering at the library, garage sale hunting, gardening, and quilting. She loved hosting her children and grandchildren as they made many memories skiing, skating, swimming, and golfing.
After tiring of the cold weather, she and John moved to Tucson, AZ full time in 2006 and became active members in Santa Catalina Catholic Church. Marilyn continued with her quilting and was proud of the citrus fruits she was able to grow in her backyard. Marilyn loved going on her yearly "girls’ trip" to the National Quilt Show and always returned home with new ideas. John & Marilyn loved to travel and visited many historical sights and National Parks in the United States. She was an avid researcher and could track down anything whether it was an out of the way place to visit or a unique gift that someone asked about.
Visits back East to family always included attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events. She was an incredible baker and Christmas always meant baking many dozen cookies. The coveted recipes are her legacy that will live on each Christmas season.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, John; and, three sons Steve and his wife Tracy of Lincoln Park, NJ, Peter and his wife Karen of Mountain Lakes, NJ, and Michael and his wife Michele of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and, their seven grandchildren, Erin, Olivia, Molly, Diana, Matthew, Tyler and Emma.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marilyn’s name to Casa Maria Soup Kitchen of Tucson.
