Martin J. Tracey, 83, of Wayne died on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Morristown Memorial Hospital with family by his side.
Marty was born and raised in Ossining, NY. After graduating from Ossining High School in 1947 he attended New York State Maritime Academy graduating in 1950. He lived in Yorktown Heights, NY and Middlebush, NJ before moving to Wayne 29 years ago.
He was a mechanical engineer working for Standard Brands, E.R. Squibb, and GAF Corp., until his retirement more than 20 years ago.
Marty spent countless hours with family and friends at “The Farm” in Long Eddy, NY.
He was an avid deer hunter, bird watcher and voracious reader. Marty was a lifetime member and ex-chief of the Middlebush Fire Department, and an active member of the NRA. He was a “Mr Fix-It” who could repair anything. Marty was a devoted family man.
He and his wife Lucille were married for almost 25 years.
Marty is survived by his wife Lucille (nee Bayersdorfer), daughter Lynn Wilson and her husband Richard of Dunedin, FL, son Tim and his wife Jean of Hubbell, MI, daughter Gale Tracey of Bedminster, NJ; stepdaughters Christine Peraino and her late husband William and Laurie Mundy and her late husband Bob, both of Vernon. He was predeceased by stepdaughter Barbara Kirk. He is survived by his sister Peggy Barrett of Mission Veijo, CA. Marty has 8 grandchildren, Timmy, Jessica, Erin, Rich, Lisa, Chrissy, Cindi and Karla and 5 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his grandson Kevin.
He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
