Mary Adamo, age 67 of Wayne, died peacefully on Monday October 1, 2007 at her home.
Mary was born in Garfield, NJ and attended Immaculate Conception High School in Lodi where she graduated with the class of 1957.
She moved to Wayne with her husband Frank in 1959, where they raised a family and enjoyed 47 years of a ‘very special’ marriage together until Franks passing on January 3, 2006.
Mary was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley RC Church in Wayne where she served in various capacities for over twenty-five years. She was chairperson of the Art and Environment Committee and a Eucharistic Minister.
Mary’s life was strongly rooted around her family. Her hobbies, interests, and daily activities all had something to do with her family – especially her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed shopping for her grandchildren and she committed much of her time to various charities. Her family fondly recalls Mary as being “unbelievably generous, caring, and willing to do anything for anyone.” They also recall spending special holiday’s together, including Christmas and Thanksgiving, where Mary would cook enough for several families. Also many fun filled summers at their vacation home in Bayville, NJ.
She is survived by her sister, Antoinette Arolan of East Rutherford; one daughter, Nancy Provax and her husband Tom of Wayne; one son, Sal Adamo and his wife Margaret of Wayne; six grandchildren, Frank and Alyse Adamo, and Anna, Kimberly, Crista, and Adam Provax, all of Wayne; two nieces, Nancy DiDonato of Fairlawn, NJ and Deborah Tornaritis of East Stroudsburg, PA; one nephew, Dennis Pedevillano of Lodi, NJ.
She is predeceased by her husband Frank; two sisters, Rosalie Gavin and Viola Siegel; and one brother, Anthony Granato.
Those planning an expression of sympathy, in Mary’s memory, are asked to consider the Tomorrow’s Children’s Fund, 30 Prospect Ave, Hackensack, NJ 07601, or the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 29119, Phoenix, Arizona 85038-9119.
