Mary E. Sisco, age 87, of Wayne passed Sunday, August 21, 2022.
She was born in Paterson to James and Theresa Harrington. She was part of the first graduating class from Wayne High School graduating with the Class of 1953 and has lived in Wayne for the past over 60 years.
Just out of high school Mary worked at the NJ Bell Telephone Company in Pompton Lakes as a switchboard operator. She later worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Metal Craft Company in Wayne and at the General Electric Companies Customer Service in Wayne. In her later years she worked as an Administrative Assistant for Seton Hall University in South Orange before retiring on her 75th birthday - June 1, 2010.
In her youth Mary was a Bobby Soxer and loved to dance with her girlfriends. For Christmas, Saint Patrick’s Day, and her birthday she went all out decorating. She also made the best Irish Soda Bread – a skill she learned from her mom. Most of all Mary was a dedicated, loving, and devoted mother and grandmother.
Mary's friendship was a treasure easily shared with anyone in need. Her friendships were life long and cherished. She was a caring sister who watched over her little brothers and helped to keep them safe and secure. Mary raised her sons with love and understanding. She created a home for them where all their friends were welcomed and respected.
Mary was dedicated to her Catholic Faith and was a devout parishioner of Holy Cross Church in Wayne and more recently Our Lady of Consolation Church also in Wayne.
She was the loving mother of William T. Sisco of Wayne and Brian Sisco and his wife Jill of Smyrna, GA; cherished grandmother of Anndrea and Tiffany Sisco; and she was the dearly loved sister of Kevin P. Harrington, ESQ and his loving companion Colleen of Wayne and John J. Harrington of Suwanee, GA. She was preceded in death by her brothers James J. Harrington and Thomas E. Harrington.
Let us celebrate a life well lived. She graced us with her love and blessed us with her laughter. Let her memory linger and give comfort to all of us who have borne witness.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
