Services
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 8:45 AM from the Vander May Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne then to Saint Marys RC Church, Pompton Lakes where at 10 AM a Funeral Mass will be offered.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4, 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
Mary Roberto (nee Mazzella) age 103 of Paterson died on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the Lakeview Subacute Care Center, Wayne while receiving the loving care of her grandson Richard.
She was born and raised in Paterson having lived in Lake Mohawk and Fort Lauderdale, Florida before moving to Wayne three years ago.
Mrs. Roberto and her husband were the founders of the Alps Manor Nursing Home, Wayne and the Green Pond Manor Nursing Home, Green Pond.
She was a long time parishioner of Blessed Sacrament RC Church, Paterson where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She was also a parishioner of Saint Pious RC Church, Fort Lauderdale, FL and a member of their women’s club.
Mrs. Roberto will be remembered as an avid reader, for her good sense of humor and how particular she was about her appearance. She even had her hair done the morning she passed away.
The youngest and only surviving child of ten she is survived by her daughters Dolores T. Grosso and her husband Richard of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Gaynell Miko of Paterson; one son Richard A. Roberto and his wife Margaretta of Laguna Woods, CA; six grandchildren Dianne Thomas and Richard Roberto both of Wayne, Vickie Ann Grosso of Clifton, Richard F. Grosso, Jr. of Wayne, Linda Kirsten and Debbie Williamson both of Laguna Woods, CA, eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-eight years Gabriel Roberto in 1978 and nine brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Wayne Memorial First Aid Squad, PO Box 291, Wayne, NJ 07470.
