Mildred Frontin (Barth) age 85 of Wayne died on Friday July 20, 2007.
She was born in Jersey City and had lived in Wayne for the past 36 years.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s RC Church in Pompton Lakes, NJ.
Mildred’s friends and family were everything to her, especially her friend Dorothy Lee. Mildred and Dorothy met in the fourth grade and remained very close throughout life.
Mildred received the most joy in her life through being kind and helpful to everyone. In fact, many people claim her to be their “second mother” – especially her nephew Hank and her niece Maureen. All of those that knew her understand just how much she enjoyed being helpful to others – whether that meant cooking and cleaning, assisting with math homework, or just being a genuine good friend. She was a person who was extremely generous with all of her heart and soul. It’s sufficed to say that she was entirely selfless and completely devoted to her family and friends. While, at the same time, she was very modest and shyly unwilling to accept any acknowledgement or reward for her acts of kindness.
During high school, she was a very bright student, especially skilled in mathematics. Of course, only a select few were ever aware of this because she didn't want to be praised for her skills. But she gladly put those skills to good use when assisting others. Her intelligence was clearly evident while watching and playing “Jeopardy” on TV – she was very good at it.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1983. She is survived by one daughter, Judith Hancox, and one grandson, Edward Hancox, both of Wayne; one Nephew, Hank Umland and one neice, Maureen Marino. She was also predeceased by her brother Edward Barth, and her sister Dorothy McLellan.
