Patricia A. Scialla (nee DeStefano), age 78 of Wayne, died peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023. She has lived in Wayne since 1970.
Pat grew up in Paterson, NJ and was on the Color Guard at Eastside High School before graduating in 1963. She went on to earn her degree from William Paterson College and became a second-grade teacher in the Paterson school system and she also taught briefly at the Mountain View School in Wayne. After taking a few years off to raise her children, she rejoined the workforce as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for Mc Neil Pharmaceutical of Fort Washington, PA from 1976-1981 . From 1981 - 2001 she was employed as a District Sales Manager for Whitehall-Robbins Laboratories in Madison, NJ where after 20 years of service to the company she retired.
Pat met her husband, Arthur, in the 1990’s on a blind date. Their conversation was easy that night, and minutes turned into hours. Before they knew it, the restaurant was closing, and they agreed to meet again. Pat claimed to have some travel obligations and she was unable to meet Arthur again until the following month. He thought for sure he was getting the ‘brush-off,’ but that wasn’t the case at all. After a few more dates, they fell for each other quickly and true love was revealed. They married on July 15, 2000, at the Paramus Reformed Church and honeymooned at Frontenac, Quebec, Canada. They’ve enjoyed an incredible life together and Arthur’s heart is broken.
Pat is survived by her loving husband, Arthur, of Wayne, their blended family of children; Douglas Bryan and his wife Joan of Avon, Indiana, Thomas Bryan and his wife Linda of Ridgewood, NJ, Arthur Scialla and his wife Julie of Pompton Lakes, Claire Timbas and her husband Greg of Dunbarton, New Hampshire, and Lisa Griggs of Newton, Massachusetts, eleven grandchildren; Jessica, Thomas, William, Grant, Garrett, Dagny, Marshall, Axel, Anthony, William, and Jackson, her brother: Joseph DeStefano and his wife Colleen of Oak Ridge, NJ, and one nephew; John DeStefano.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia's name may be made to St Mary's RC Church
