Patricia A. Wieczorek, age 66 of Wayne, died on Friday, April 18, 2014.
Patty moved to Wayne in 1977 and was a hair stylist and makeup artist throughout her professional career. She worked for many years at the “Magic Mirror” salon in Hawthorne. She had been in several TV shows performing makeovers on people and she even did hair and makeup for the NY Jets football team when they made promotional TV commercials. About eight years ago she became the leasing agent for an apartment complex in Wayne and has been working there ever since.
“Looking good” was always the first order of business for Patty. She was a true ‘fashionista,’ always dressed beautifully and looking her best. Her sporty cars were part of her accessory package as well. Her Datsun 280Z was her favorite car, with T-tops and a stick shift, followed by her Nissan 200SX, which of course was also a stick-shift. She loved stick-shift cars because they were the most fun to drive!
Patty was also very much committed to animal rescue and adoption, volunteering countless hours with the local animal rescue community. She was an active with FOWA for many years and rescued more cats than anyone could count. On one occasion, she and her friend rescued puppies that had been tossed into a dumpster at Willowbrook Mall. A security guard came to chase the girls away until he realized what they were doing. He ended up lending a hand and helped to get the puppies to safety!
Along with some of her dearest friends, Patty loved to go see “Celtic Thunder.” She would travel to Long Island, Scranton, and all around just to hear them perform – they were a true favorite. Seeing these shows with her friends made it all the more special. She had a few friends who were each very dear to her. She had known her friend Tracy Dakota for more than forty years in the beauty industry, as well as her friend Sheree Hrinko, who she met in the 1970’s at the Magic Mirror. And Christopher Rowe, who was just little boy that Patty used to look after in the 1970’s, grew to be a lifelong, beloved friend. Chris oversaw all of Patty’s treatments, doctor visits and care, standing by her side through it all. Patty was truly blessed to have such caring and loving friends during her life journey, and all of them will miss her dearly.
Donations in Patty’s memory to the Wayne Animal Shelter, 201 Pompton Plains Crossroad, Wayne, NJ 07470 would be greatly appreciated.
